Elysian
Branding exercise
The Brief
Elysian believes that you don’t need to visit a spa to pamper yourself. With their premium bath sheets made from Egyptian cotton, you can turn your own home into an oasis of serenity, turning every day moments into extraordinary rituals. A truly indulgent self-pampering experience wouldn't be whole without the inclusion of luxurious bathrobes, plush slippers, and fragrant candles, all of which are thoughtfully featured within Elysian's collection.
My Approach
The qualities of luxury, serenity and comfort were at the forefront of my mind while I was brainstormed Elysian's logomark. The imagery of cotton fluff – puffy, voluminous and pure – kept hovering in my head, and I knew that I had to make it a part of Elysian's brand identity somehow.
Next, I looked to the definition of the word 'elysian', where definitions of peace, perfection and serenity provided sources of inspiration; I thought that these adjectives perfectly described an idyllic oasis by the sea. This was how I arrived at the second symbol of a wave, which features in Elysian's textmark as embellishments for the letters 'E' and 'A'. These waves were also then adapted to take the form of leaves that sit below the cotton fluff, transforming it into a living plant of sorts, thus breathing life into the brand visually and metaphorically.
