Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge

​​Approach

Gu Zao Ren is a family-run heritage brand serving up Taiwanese porridge and an accompaniment of mouth-watering dishes, a go-to supper joint for many Singaporeans and their families. It has been around for more than 50 years, starting out as a tiny stall at Lau Pa Sat in the ’70s to ABC Brickworks, before moving to its current location at Changi Road.
 

I was brought on board to revamp its logo and signage, helping to create a new, modern look that pays homage to its heritage. The logomark features the brand's founder, Ah Seng, scooping up a bowl of hearty sweet potato porridge, the famed staple of his establishment.

Apart from giving the logos a fresh look, I also helped with designing the shop's signage and crockeries (bowls and plates).

考え方

古早人（Gu Zao Ren）は、台湾風のお粥と食欲をそそるおかずを提供する家族経営の老舗ブランドで、多くのシンガポール人とその家族にとって定番の夜食スポットです。50年以上の歴史があり、1970年代にラオパサの小さな屋台として始まり、ABCブリックワークスを経て、現在のチャンギ・ロードへ移転しました。

私はロゴと看板のリニューアルを担当し、ブランドの伝統を生かしつつ、より現代的な印象を与えるデザインを制作しました。ロゴマークには、創業者のア・セン氏が名物のサツマイモ粥をよそっている姿が描かれています。

また、ロゴ刷新に加えて、店舗の看板や食器（どんぶりや皿）のデザインにも携わりました。
